Big Swap, Big Speed, Big Money: This Ferrari Testarossa Has A 500hp Honda K24 Engine In It!

Big Swap, Big Speed, Big Money: This Ferrari Testarossa Has A 500hp Honda K24 Engine In It!

(By Tom Lohnes) – The Ferrari Testarossa, a dream car to 80’s kids and even some today, is without a doubt one of history’s most iconic cars to date. Well, it’s coming back, with a more reliable powertrain.

That is right, there will be a Ferrari Testarossa restomod for sale with a Honda K24 under its mid-mounted hood. This engine is a fully built N/A engine making 500 horses to the wheels, which is nuts for a naturally aspirated four banger. The transmission is a 6-speed manual, in fact the same manual that originally came with the K24 in the 7th-gen Honda Accord, just built to withstand all of that power. Basically, all they did to make this work was take the front subframe of the FWD Accord and move it back, creating RWD.

What is the end goal of this car, you may ask? Well, 200mph. With the much lighter Honda motor under the hood and nearly 150 more horses than it had from factory, that is entirely possible. And, another perk of this Honda powertrain is reliability. Even when fully built, this K24 is much more dependable than the Ferrari’s Finicky V12. Pricing hasn’t been released yet, but judging by previous retromods with this type of powertrain, they’ll be looking for a pile of moolah.

Awesomely Weird: This 1970s Chevrolet Parts Film Stars Evel Knievel And Literally Makes No Sense

Awesomely Weird: This 1970s Chevrolet Parts Film Stars Evel Knievel And Literally Makes No Sense

We’re guessing someone lost their job for this one. You are going to watch this 1970s Chevrolet parts film which stars Evel Knivel and makes literally no sense at all. The theme of the film is “conflict” and it is illustrated by a series of scenes where animals eat other animals, black and white movies are shown, and Evel Knievel jumps stuff on his motorcycle, sometimes crashing, sometimes not. Throw in a dose of 1970s Anchoman-level hilarity with a bikini-clad woman, and you have yourself one of the most singular odd things we have ever seen.

Make no mistake, Knievel would never turn down a gig, especially one with Chevrolet that likely was a great payday for reading some cue-cards. The company definitely did not hire him for his suave acting ability because this dude is straight up stiff while narrating the action. By action, we mean the bizarre things we are shown on screen.

Oddly, while Chevrolet parts are mentioned a handful of times there’s barely (if ever) a Chevrolet car shown as a prop in the film. This whole thing is some weirdo theater of the mind that was likely schemed up by an executive’s kid. “Hey Johnson, get my son a job in the media department and let him run wild!”

Obviously, Knievel was majorly famous at this point and his star only grew bigger. Note that he mentions that someday, “I’ll jump a mile….” we all know how that quest ended.

You have to see this one to believe it.

Press play to see the weirdest Chevrolet Parts video ever made, starring Evel Knievel!

Mucho Dinero: This Authentic and Rare Pontiac Ram Air V Camshaft Has To Be The Most Expensive On eBay

Mucho Dinero: This Authentic and Rare Pontiac Ram Air V Camshaft Has To Be The Most Expensive On eBay

Thanks to BangShifter Troy Kellas we have been informed of what has to be the most expensive camshaft/lifters/pushrods ad on eBay. This authentic and rare Pontiac Ram Air V cam is listed for $5,000. The Ram Air V engine is the Holy Grail of Pontiac horsepower making in so many ways. The tunnel port heads, special intake manifold and exhaust, and the list goes on. Designed as race engines they were not really intended to have street manners, but this camshaft provides a wrinkle to that story. This General Kenetics ground cam is claimed to have been specified to allow for street driving with less radical lift and duration than the otherwise rowdy race camshaft that would have been in the engine.

We get that this thing is like one of none, we get that if you are a diehard Pontiac fan this camshaft has special meaning but is there really anyone out there who loves Pontiacs enough to throw down five freaking thousands dollars for this thing? It is exactly what the seller claims in the fact that it’s NOS stuff, it has never been run, it is still basically wrapped is some cosmoline looking stuff, etc.

It’s just huge dollars and for what? To tame down your Ram Air V engine? Don’t get us wrong. This is a cool piece of muscle car and specifically Pontiac history but man, $5,000 is wild.

eBay: Check out this listing for a real deal, never run, Ram Air V camshaft…bring money

Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest 2020: Welcome To The Blue Oval’s Burndown!

Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest 2020: Welcome To The Blue Oval’s Burndown!

LS Fest came and went. MoParty had it’s first showing. That means that it’s time for Mustangs, for Cobras, for Broncos, and every other thing that wears the legacy of Henry Ford on it’s sleeve. Holley’s Ford Fest is on and going strong in Kentucky, and we’re on hand to take care of things. Chad is doing what Chad does best, which is to entertain crowds in the circle pit with his infectious delivery, and I’m running around shooting photos in-between trips to the swap meet to look for parts for two Mustangs that keep pestering me for attention. And it’s a good thing that the swap meet was there, because parts are comin’ home with me! But enough about that, you’re probably just here to see what was going on at the show. Well, I don’t blame you one bit. Only in it’s second year, the Intergalactic Ford Fest is proving once again to be wildly popular. You don’t suppose that it’s because Bigfoot V, the behemoth with the 10-foot-tall tires on it, was around and about, do you?

We’ve got plenty of photos coming, so just stay tuned…there’s lots of good stuff to come!

Be sure to click on a photo below to check out the first gallery from the 2020 Ford Fest!

The Story Behind Tim Richmond’s NASCAR Pontiac LeMans And How It Was Found And Restored

The Story Behind Tim Richmond’s NASCAR Pontiac LeMans And How It Was Found And Restored

Tim Richmond isn’t a name that immediately springs to mind when NASCAR is involved, but the story behind him and this NASCAR Pontiac LeMans car is a unique one. Richmond, a playboy and in some ways a gentleman racer, had been messing around with open-wheel cars since 1976 with little luck and had made friends with drag racer Raymond Beadle when, in 1980, Pocono Raceway president Joseph Mattioli suggested that he give NASCAR a shot. Between 1980-1982, Richmond drove with small, incremental successes, but in 1983 Beadle bought a NASCAR team and hired Richmond on as a driver. Wins and pole positions started to rack up before Richmond jumped ship to Hendrick Motorsports in 1985. His best season was in 1986, and unfortunately it was also his last. He fell ill after the 1986 NASCAR banquet, and though he tried to make a comeback in 1987, winning at Pocono even, by September 1987 he had resigned from Hendrick and had shut himself up inside his Florida condo. Richmond passed on August 13th, 1989 from complications as a result of AIDS.

In this video, former Richmond crew member John Dodson shares stories about his time working with Richmond and the crew during the Beadle era. His memories of working on the Pontiac during the times where NASCAR was more of a Southern sport than the big deal it is now are priceless, and you get a small insight to some of the politics of the day, including Pontiac’s interference with the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix 2+2 body shells over the well-loved LeMans.

Click play below and enjoy a look into the stories of a small NASCAR team!

Pitchin’ Mustang: This 1988 Ford Mustang GT Has Some Interesting, If Not Mysterious Road Racing History

Pitchin’ Mustang: This 1988 Ford Mustang GT Has Some Interesting, If Not Mysterious Road Racing History

For the asking price, this seems like one heck of an awesome car. The way that prices are rocking up on Fox platform Mustangs these days, to get one with a 13:1 compression 371ci stroker small block, a cage, and all kinds of fun suspension upgrades is great. The story with this car has our eyebrows up a little just because there are some things in the listing that have us intrigued for sure. The fact that it’s claimed celebrities raced and won in this car, that it has lived its life at Bridgehampton Race Track. Here’s the line that has us interested, “The car has a history of great competitions and wins at the hands of celebrity and well revered race car drivers.”

It would be cool if those drivers, wins, or history were elaborated on just a little. The car was built by Mustang Magic and American Muscle on Long Island and it was built into a racer when basically brand new. There’s no rust, there’s no badness, and many parts of the car like the interior look brand new for sure. This thing is kind of a hardcore Saleen from the era, right?

Check out the photos and then check out the listing. The price is good, the story just seems to be a little on the weird side. This would be a fun Mustang to autocross and road race for sure.

Morning Symphony: It’s A Twin-Turbo, All-Wheel-Drive 1971 Chevelle That Puts Down About 1000 Horsepower In France!

Matting the throttle on a big-power muscle car is a riot for all of the right factors: loud sounds, mosquito-fogging degrees of tire smoke, and you save your regional DOT cash by repaving the street in fresh rubber. It looks great and it’s awesome to do, yet the fact is that if you’re legally right into competing even in the least, it’s not doing you any kind of favors. There’s a reason all-wheel-drive automobiles have a follower base: it’s due to the fact that they can go from stationary to damn, that’s a quick Subaru in extremely brief order and with really little drama. When it comes to American cars, really few tended to welcome it. One of the most significant all-wheel-drive that appealed to the muscle mass crowd were the 1991-93 GMC Syclone/Typhoon doubles, which loaded a 280hp turbocharged V6 and also four-wheel drive. The blacked-out vehicles were capable of embarrassing several vehicles on the road when they came out.

awd chevelle 2

But what concerning adapting all-wheel-drive to older muscular tissue? It could seem sacrilegious to some, yet someplace in France, Alex, the owner of this 1971 Chevelle, did simply that. Making use of a Typhoon’s front differential, a NP149 transfer case, and also a 12-bolt out back, the Chevelle is an official all-wheel-drive surprise for any person that comes across it. Powered by a twin-turbo 355ci small block that consumes E85 and also lays down around 1,000 DIN horse power at 14psi of boost, this is one incredibly unpleasant Chevy. The heavy A-body can tear 0-62 MPH in 2.7 secs, a time that will screw with the heads of supercar owners.

And we spoke with the builder of this machine:

“This was a 9 month project. I actually intended to put all my power to the ground as it was really challenging to compete with 600hp incredibly automobiles despite 1000+ HP engine. Currently the Chevelle is a great deal of fun to drive, extremely safe even on wet sidewalk.

I developed an unique combining between the 4L80E and the NP149 (in order to turn it as well as enhance ground clearance). The female input shaft of the NP149 has actually been resplined to match the bigger shaft of the 4L80E.

The engine returned a whole lot, the throttle body facility (changing the carb) is at the fire wall currently. It additionally moved a bit to the traveler side.

Weigth equilibrium is 50/50

On the 0– 62 miles per hour video you can see that I lift the gaz strong at 60kph. On a far better roadway with full throttle all way long I want to get to 2.3 s.

Alex”

Does The Supra Have A Super Future: Our 13-Year Old Analyst Looks Into The Crystal Ball To See!

Does The Supra Have A Super Future: Our 13-Year Old Analyst Looks Into The Crystal Ball To See!

(By Tom Lohnes) – The 5th generation of the Toyota Supra is not without its haters. The Supra which shares its basic chassis and engine with the BMW Z4 is a solid contender in the modern sports car segment. For 2021, Toyota bumps power up from 335 to 382 and is offering a 4-cylinder turbo version. Reports also say that Toyota will have a different variant of the Supra for every year of it’s generation, and then at the end we have some speculation for the 6th gen Supra. So, without further delay let’s get into it.

For 2021, Toyota revised the 5th gen, (A90) Supra, and made the generation 5.1 (A91) Supra, with its own special edition the A91 edition. This is basically the launch edition to the 2020 A90 Supra. The A91 edition is just an appearance package, but it offers a new color, decal, and a carbon-fiber spoiler, so that’s cool. But the bulk of the A91 update comes with the Supra 2.0. Like the naturally aspirated version of the A80 Supra, the 2.0 comes with around 250 horsepower and a mid-6-second 0-60 time. The Supra 2.0 slots between the Nimble little Toyota 86, and the legitimate sports car, the Supra 3.0. For next year, Toyota is expected to add either a 6-speed manual option or a track-focused variant of the already potent Supra 3.0. The three years after that, I’m not sure what will happen, but it is expected in 2026 the last year for the A90 Supra we will see a high-horsepower TRD variant just like the A80 had in its last year.

Now, what will happen after that? Well, with the backlash of the BMW-based A90, Toyota is likely developing a new JZ engine in conjunction with Yamaha. If the A100 Supra goes through, expect a 3jz-GTE powered Supra, that will probably cost a lot, but have great potential.
